Maciej Bulinski born April 22nd 1980 in Gdynia, Poland.
Started his musical education at the age of 6 taking accordion lessons, followed by piano and percussion at the Public Primary and Secondary “Felisk Nowowiekski” Music School in Gdańsk. Graduated with honors in 1999. From the age of 14 till 17 Maciej sang as soprano in boy’s “Pueri Cantores Olivenses”choir under the direction of Jan Łukaszewski. Graduated The Stanisław Moniuszko Musical Academy of Gdańsk from the class of dr. Mirosław Adrianczyk. Participated in many music competitions and festivals. Awarded first place at National Percussion Competition in Gdańsk, second place at National Percussion Competition in Poznań and third place at National Percussion Competition in Łomża.
Reaching artistic maturity and fascinated by jazz and rock Maciej performed in various jazz and rock bands in the tri-cities clubs and musical scenes both in the tri-cities and around Poland. The most important ones being gospel group “Błogosławieni”, rock band “Virena”, hard-rock band “Chassis”, electric trio “Electrinity” and classical marimba and xylophone duet “Malletduo”. Maciej collaborated with MaciejMiecznikowski, Krystyna Prońko, Piotr Schiller, DominikBukowski, Zdzisław Kalinowski and many other artist from the Polish musical scene.
His fascination by music and passion for teaching encouraged Maciej to deepen his pedagogical knowledge. In 2015 he graduated with degree in pedagogy from Gdańsk University. Maciej works with children and youth teaching percussion, piano and music theory. Since 2007 Maciej has been composing as well. He created pieces for his students as well as for theater-ballet performances like “The Elements” in 2015, “Time Machine” in 2016 and “Snow White” 2018. All performed at the Public Primary and Secondary “Felisk Nowowiekski” Music School in Gdańsk as well as on the stage of Baltic State Opera in Gdańsk. Maciej worked at Gdańsk Community Center, Community Music School in Morena, “Positive” Elementary School and “Music Fan” school in Banino.
Maciej is also a member of “Gloria Dei” choir and involved in the artistic life of the Lutheran Parish at the Saviors church in Sopot.
Mateusz Zawadzki
He was born on 24.11.1993 in Warsaw. He began learning percussion instruments at the age of 6. In 2012, he graduated with distinction from the Secondary Music School named after J. Elsner in the class of Prof. Bogdan Lauks. Since 2012, he has been a student at the Academy of Music named after S. Moniuszko in Gdańsk in the class of Prof. Mirosław Andrjanczyk.
He has also developed his instrumental skills through masterclasses conducted by outstanding representatives of percussion art, including David Friedman (Germany/USA), Carlo Willems (Belgium), Bernhard Wulff (Germany), Ignacio Ceballos Martin (Spain), Casey Cangelosi (USA), and Marta Klimasara (Poland/Germany).
In 2005, he won first prize at the National Competition “Mały Werblista”. In 2011 and 2012, he was a finalist of the National Percussion Auditions for Secondary Schools. In 2013, he became a semi-finalist of the International Percussion Competition in Vilnius (Lithuanian International Drums and Percussion Festival and Competition 2013) and received second prize in the snare drum category at the Italy Percussion Competition in Montesilvano.
He has collaborated with the Academic Symphony and Chamber Orchestra in Gdańsk, Sinfonietta Consonus – Symphonic Orchestra, and the Progress Chamber Orchestra. In 2013, he completed a three-week tour in the People’s Republic of China with the Orchestra of the Academy of Music in Gdańsk.
He has performed, among others, at the National Philharmonic in Warsaw, the Baltic Philharmonic in Gdańsk, the Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio of Polish Radio in Warsaw, and the Academies of Music in Warsaw and Gdańsk.
He participated in the recording of two albums: “Explorations” (Sinfonietta Consonus – Symphonic Orchestra) and “Wojciech Kilar: Angelus, Exodus, Victoria” (Academic Symphony Orchestra) – the latter was nominated for the prestigious Fryderyk Award in 2014.
Since 2014, he has been a member of the Mallet Duo ensemble.
